When Mexico's biggest Art Fair of the year announced that years host, venue and location was going to be Guadalajara, we were ecstatic for our local friends. When they announced the line-up of artists exhibiting their art and very few local artists were in the list, we decided to host an art fair ourselves.
With no experience and no reputation in the art scene, we rented an indoor fútbol field near the city center to host LOCALES VS. VISITANTES.
We invited local talented friends to exhibit their art, and art collectives near Guadalajara we admired. We designed T-shirts to sell, every artist designed a futbol jersey which was also for sale (for those who couldn't afford artwork), we threw a party with more than 400 attendees, and we hosted small seminars to talk about our generation of artists responsabilities for the future of art, socio-political matters in the art scene, inclusion and diversity in art, and Mexican history of contemporary art.
